IVF Savings: Consider Shared Egg Donation
I have written about egg sharing before as an option to those who are watching their pennies and when I found this article below I wanted to share it with you. Have you ever considered Shared Egg Donation? Have you actually tried it? Please share your story with me and the rest of my readers! We would love to hear from YOU!

IVF Savings: Consider Shared Egg Donation
By Eleni Himaras
Would-be parents who want to work with an egg donor, but who don't have the $30,000 or so in-vitro fertilization costs, have some hope. Many fertility centers give their recipient patients the option of splitting the cost of receiving an egg donation with another couple.
“It’s really great for the younger patients who haven’t had a chance to really acquire any finances," says Dr. Bruce Rose of Infertility Solutions, P.C., a clinic in Allentown, Pa."It gives them the chance to have a child not otherwise possible.”
Sharing Means Saving
This process can save patients up to 50% of the costs in this step in the in-vitro fertilization (IVF) process. In some cases what could typically cost $30,000 to $40,000 can come down in price to $15,000.
Other fertility treatment discounts are available, too. Dr. Carlos E. Soto-Albors, senior partner at the Northern California Fertility Medical Center in Roseville, Calif., is making IVF more affordable for patients by decreasing the cost each time they have the procedure, whether it is because they did not conceive the first time or because they want a second child.
“If they wait a year or two [to save additional monies for a second child] it will hurt their chance of getting pregnant,” he says.
Even With Fewer Eggs, Success Rates Are Similar
According to Soto-Albors, the most obvious drawback of sharing an egg donor is that each couple only gets half of the total oocytes.
Typically, when eggs are harvested, doctors will pick the healthiest two or three to turn into zygotes and implant into the mother. In a single-donor program, that can leave up to 10 eggs that can be frozen for use in the future if the procedure was unsuccessful or they want a second child.
But Soto-Albors says couples who share have a comparable conception rate as with those who do not share an egg donor.
“In 2008, we did 39 embryo transfers on the non-shared and 25 of those got pregnant,” he says. “That comes out to 64%.”
In the shared program, they implanted 11 women and seven got pregnant. That's an identical 64% success rate.
At Soto-Albors's practice, patients in the non-shared program pay $24,725, and those in the shared pay $16,775, but these numbers vary by clinic.
“When we started it years ago, I was expecting the success rate of the shared program to be smaller,” says Soto-Albors. But in the 10 years he’s been offering the program, the rates have only differed by, at most, 5%.

Tips to bath baby
The baby can be bathed in tub. You can bath and dress the baby on a low table, at which you sit a card table with stady legs is a good size or you can sit on a high stool. A folding, fabric bathtub is convenience if you can afford it and have a room for it. The tub part is made of waterproof material hung from a fram on high legs. It is high enough so that you don't break your back while bathing the baby. When the bathing is finished, a flat canvas top covers the tub, and on this the baby an be dried, dressed and changed. You can use a baby soap and baby shamppoo for the baby. After finishing bathing, dry with a towel and add lot of baby powder and put cotton dress. This will comfortable for babies.

Suze Orman Approves Dog Cloning. Reluctantly.
I have to say that I do like Suze Orman...with the exception of her hairstyle....she is a no nonsense woman who knows finances. So when I came a crossed the article below I wish I had actually heard what she had to say to this guy who wants to spend $100K to clone his dog! The dog must be special to him however I don't believe memories can be cloned or love or devotion....so to me it would be a real waste of money...what are your thoughts?

Financial guru Suze Orman has made quite a name for herself over the past few years as America's advisor on matters of money. With an award winning show on CNBC, numerous New York Times best selling books, and a regular on Oprah, Orman's penny-pinching advice is gaining traction, particularly during this recession.
Orman's niche is to use plain-spoken common sense to berate people into saving money, investing conservatively, and living within their means. Which is why she had such a hard time with a call in viewer who wanted to spend $100,000 on cloning his dog.
During the "Can I Afford It?" segment of her show, viewers can call in and tell Orman what they want to buy - from an Iguana Sunroom to a pet squirrel monkey - and Orman reviews their finances to either "Approve" or "Deny" their request. The viewer wanting to clone his Great Dane T.J. had no debt and a fair amount of equity in a million dollar house, leading a squeamish Orman to "approve" this purchase despite her obvious discomfort.

Babies Bottle feeding
You can feed your baby with your milk(mother's milk), if it is not sufficent you can give cow's milk, water and sugar. The water and sugar are put into make the mixture more like mother's milk in composition. The cow's milk that you use may be evaporated milk or pasteurized whole milk. Each one has its advantages. You can get the advice of your Doctor. Your Doctor will prescribe the best kind of milk for your baby, taking into account the particular need.
After your baby finished milk with a bottle, you should rinse it, squirt a little water through the nipple to remove scum, wash the bottle, nipple, and bottle cap with boiling water. It is easy to get the equipment clean if you wash it right after use.

Healthy diet may boost men's fertility
Is THIS really new news?
Sharon
Reuters Health) - Men who eat healthier diets may also have healthier sperm, new research from Spain shows.
"A healthy, well-balanced diet is not just important for preventing diseases like diabetes, high cholesterol, or hypertension, but it may be useful for preserving or improving your reproductive health too," Dr. Jaime Mendiola of the University of Murcia, the lead researcher on the study, told Reuters Health via e-mail.
A number of studies have suggested that there are links between consuming certain nutrients and male infertility, Mendiola and his team note in the journal Fertility and Sterility. They had previously investigated the relationship between consumption of certain foods and semen quality, and found that men who ate more dairy products and more meat, and less lettuce, tomatoes, and fruit, were more likely to have poor semen quality.
That investigation didn't look at specific nutrients. But in this one, Mendiola and his team compared the nutrient content of the diets of 30 men with poor semen quality and 31 men with normal sperm. All were attending fertility clinics.
The men with poor semen quality had low sperm counts and relatively high percentages of abnormally formed sperm. All of the men provided at least two semen samples.
After controlling for cigarette smoking, age, body mass index, and exposure to toxic chemicals in the workplace, the researchers found that diet remained an important factor. The men with normal semen ate more carbohydrates, fiber, folate, vitamin C and lycopene than the men with poor semen quality. The men with healthy semen also ate less fat and less protein.
Low levels of antioxidant nutrients in the diet "seem to have a negative effect on semen quality," Mendiola and his team write.
A healthy diet does seem to be a factor in sperm quality, the researcher concluded, but he added that randomized controlled trials will be needed to confirm the relationship.

Nadya Suleman Has Regrets...Really?!
Well...FINALLY it seems, a little too late, Nadya is having regrets! Needless to say I feel that she just needs to look forward and not be forced to look back on decisions that can not be un-made. Her children are here and each and every one needs love and affection and should not feel that by being born they have ruined anyone's life. They didn't ask to be here...but they are...and they are individuals and should be treated as such. Just my thoughts!

Octomom: ‘I Screwed Up My Life. I Screwed Up My Kids’ Lives.’
By Robert Franklin, Esq. | Jun 7, 2009
Now she tells us. Six months after giving birth to octuplets to go along with her already existing six children, Nadya Suleman regrets the whole thing, according to this article (Huffington Post, 6/4/09). She also feels "so much guilt for" not informing the sperm donor of her decision to have more of his children. He apparently told her he didn't want her to have the remaining frozen embyos implanted, but she did it anyway.
So the piece of work also known as Nadya Suleman has now officially joined the vast horde of people, that includes her own mother, who think her decision to have eight additional children was wrong. What feminists like Patricia Williams at The Nation think about this recent development, I don't know. I suspect they won't change their view that any criticism of Suleman's choices constitutes, in Williams' words, "a perfect storm of eugenics."
One other thing. Many people have blamed the doctor or the fertility clinic for Suleman's octuplets. That's wrongheaded for one obvious reason. As I understand how fertility clinics operate, women undergoing IVF almost invariably have more than one fertilized egg implanted. That's because implantation is not successful in all cases, so it make sense to try several in the hopes that at least one will become viable. If more than one does, all but one can then be removed. Doctors and clinics explain that procedure beforehand for obvious reasons. Of course, I don't know if it was explained to Suleman, but it's a routine part of IVF, so I'd bet it was.
But once implantation has occurred and the embryos are developing, no one but the mother has any authority about how many are allowed to continue. In Suleman's, as in every case, the clinic and the doctor have no control over what transpires once implantation is accomplished. If Mom wants eight children, Mom gets eight children. Most moms don't, but this one did and there was not a thing the doctor could have done about it.
So let's all agree to stop pretending that anyone but Nadya Suleman is responsible for Nadya Suleman's choices.
