Gigi: God's Little Princess- Gigi's Big Break DVD: A LaMothe DVD Review

I usually don't review children's moves or DVD's but we all have a little girl in our lives who we like to spoil with a new book or movie once in a while. I thought that Gigi: God's Little Princess- Gigi's Big Break Would be fun to review with some little girls that I have in my neighborhood. I thought I would share my review with you if only to save you the money!

Gigi, God's Little Princess, DVD was a true disappointment to me. The Gigi stories are based on the Gigi, God's Little Princess books written by Sheila Walsh and although those are cute enough as books, unfortunately the DVD couldn't keep the attention of my little audience of 4 and 5 year old girls. This DVD included two stories, The White Lie and The Pink Surprise. The White Lie: Sheila Walsh reminds little girls that it's no fun getting in trouble. But when we do wrong and try to cover our sin, things only get worse and our hearts get heavy with guilt. But we have a God who knows our weaknesses and loves us anyway. Teaches the lesson of 1 John 1:8-9

The Pink Surprise: Sheila Walsh says: "Isn't it fun to be the first in line? When I was young, all the kids would run to get as close as possible to the front. It's a little like being the only child in a family-you get one hundred percent of your parents' attention, and can sometimes even feel like the world revolves around you. But it turns out that there are other blessings in life besides being first, and Gigi has been blessed with an adventure that will last a lifetime." Teaches the lesson from Jesus' prayer in Luke 10:21

The message was well thought out, clear and easy to understand but with Veggie Tales out there I am afraid that the animation left a lot to be desired. It was very hard for the little girls that I was watching Gigi, God's Little Princess with to keep their attention on the program. (And these are children who can sit through an entire Disney movie without blinking!) There was no action, no real humor, and frankly, Gigi and her family were not at all entertaining. I couldn't make them sit through the end of the 2nd story, The Pink Surprise, and when prompted to talk about Gigi they ask me to put on a Veggie Tale DVD instead.

If the little girl in your life really loves the Gigi books by Sheila Walsh, I would rent this DVD or borrow it from the library rather then buy it.
